School of Mechanical Engineering
The School of Mechanical Engineering was founded in 1958. There are 91 staff members in the school, among whom there are 17 full professors and 36 associate professors. Of all the faculty menbers, 15 persons have Ph.D. degree, 31 persons have M.S. degree and 5 persons have been awarded the State Council Special Allowance.
The School’s M.S degree was conferred in 1981, Ph.D degree in 1986. Now it has two doctoral programs (Mechanical Design and Theory and Oil Field Machinery) and nine master programs (Mechanical Design and Theory, Mechanical-Electrical Engineering, Machinery Manufacture and Automation, Automotive Engineering, Oil Field Machinery, Engineering Mechanics, Chemical Process Machinery, Fluid Machinery, Mechanical Engineering). At present, the school offers three programs for undergraduate students (Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Process Equipment and Control Engineering, Industrial Design). Among them, Mechanical Design and Theory and Machinery Manufacture and Automation are the provincially recognized as the key disciplines. Mechanical Engineering and Automation is recognized as the model program by Sichuan Province. In 2006, there are more than 1655 undergraduate students, 46 Ph.D students and 322 M .S students in the school.
The school has one key laboratory developed by both the ministry of education and Sichuan province (Oil and Gas Equipment), two provincial level key laboratories. The school has obtained seven national scientific and technological research awards, 46 provincial level scientific and technological research awards, 106 patents, and published over 1500 papers. Now, the school undertakes more than 80 research programs including national nature science foundation programs，which values more than 15 million RMB per year. Through decades of devoted construction and development, the school is finally skilled and successful in the following research area:
