The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering was founded in 1985. It is famous for outstanding academic environment and excellent education programs. A great number of renowned chemists and engineers have graduated from here since its establishment. Under the strong leadership of Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Prof. Luo PingYa, and thanks to the hardworking of all faculty members, The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering nowadays has a complete system of higher education in chemistry and chemical engineering, offering academic degrees from bachelor to Ph.D. in a wide variety of research fields.
The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering has a strong team of faculty members with diverse research interests and outstanding expertise. Among its 65 faculty members, there are 14 full professors among whom 3 are Ph.D. supervisors, and 19 associate professors (and research fellows). The faculty members have accomplished and are undertaking many key research programs through Sichuan Province or CNPC (China National Petroleum Corporation), with numerous creative research papers,textbooks and monographs being published. It has so far established research superiority in applied chemistry.
The undergraduate programs in the school include applied chemistry, chemical engineering and process technology, environmental engineering (including safety engineering), biochemical engineering and chemistry. On the level of graduate education, The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering offers graduate programs leading to master degrees in various areas of chemistry and chemical engineering such as applied chemistry, chemical engineering, chemical technology, environmental engineering , industrial catalysis and biochemical engineering. The school also offers PH.D. programs in applied chemistry.

Applied Chemistry:
The primary purpose of the specialty is to cultivate highly qualified scientists and engineers having knowledge of applied chemistry, petrochemical industry, and chemistry. They should be able to do scientific research, product & process design and technical administration and will get fundamental training on above areas. Graduates of this specialty have comprehensive knowledge of applied chemistry and hence have the ability to serve the fundamental industry with modern scientific technology of chemistry.

Chemical Engineering and Process Technology
It is a major to study the principle laws and popular technique for chemical production and process with the target to produce more and more chemical engineers and technicians. They can take up occupations in the fields of chemical industry, pharmacy industry, petrochemical industry and ā environmental engineering.

Environmental Engineering (including safety engineering)
The primary purpose of the specialty is to cultivate environmental scientists and engineers with a strong theoretical basis of environmental science, familiar with environmental analytic methods, able to apply new technologies, new methods, and new instruments to assay pollutants, and capable of controlling the environmental quality to make environmental evaluation, planning and management.

Students are expected to have a systemic mastery of basic principle of current bioengineering, basic knowledge and basic skills. They can take up occupations in the fields of biological technology and engineering industry, pharmacy industry, petrochemical industry and environmental engineering.
