School of Electronics and Information Engineering

Founded in 2001,The School of Electronics and Information Engineering (SEIE) is one of the most important schools at Southwest Petroleum University (SWPU). Currently, in the school there are 70 faculty and staff members, of whom 25 are full professors and associate professors, eight guest professors, one renowned university teacher at the national level. The student enrollment totals 1,668, including 1600 undergraduate students and 68 master’s degree and doctoral students.

The school offers five bachelor's degree programs: Measuring & Control Technology and Instrumentation，Automation，Electronic and Information Engineering，Tele- communications Engineering，Electrical Engineering and Automation, among which the Measuring & Control Technology and Instrumentations program has been evaluated as one of the key programs in Sichuan Province; three master’s degree programs: Measuring and Testing Technologies and Instruments, Precision Instrument and Machinery, oil and Gas Measuring and Control Engineering; one doctoral program: Instrument Science and Technology. In addition, it also offers long-term or short-term training programs to the employees engaged in the oil & gas industry.

There are such laboratories in the school as: Measuring & Control Technology and Automation Lab (one of the Provincial Key Laboratories in the universities in Sichuan Province), Experimental Center for Electrical & Electronic Information (one of the Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers in Sichuan Province), Experimental Teaching Center for Electronic Information Engineering, Rockwell Automation Laboratory. Meanwhile the school has over 2,400 sets of advanced equipment for both teaching and research worth of ￥10 million.

In the past five years, the school has obtained some research achievements in: Computer Simulation Technology, Data Acquisition and Control Technology, Virtual Instruments (VI) and Computer Acquisition Test Analysis Instruments (CATAI) Technology, the Metrology and Measurement Technique of Oil and Gas Parameter, Measurement Technique in Special Environment, the Design and Fabrication Technique of Special Experimental Facility, Transducer and Auto-Control Technology, DSP Technology.

Other research areas including: Distribution Control System (applied in oil & gas fields), Electric Machine Actiyator, Power System Automation, Electric Energy Quality, Electric Power Market Research, Telecommunication Technique of Optical Fiber, Image Signal Processing technology, New Model Transducer Based on Microelectronic Technology.

SEIE will continue to play an important role in the development of SWPU in the future. The high-speed economic development of China will definitely create great opportunities for us to accelerate SEIE’s development. Scientists, senior engineers, scholars and post doctors all over the world, who are interested in cooperation or joint research programs with SEIE, are warmly welcome to visit, to work with SEIE and to share the bright future of electronic and information technology with SEIE.
