School of Economics and Management

The School of Economics and Management was founded in 1983 as the Faculty of Management. As part of the university’s academic teaching reforms in 1995, the school initially adopted the name Faculty of Business Administration in 2001, before assuming its present name in June of 2006.

The faculty has grown to over sixty members including over fifty full-time teachers, nine of whom are full professors and eighteen associate professors, along with twenty-one lecturers. The majority of the faculty has received master level degrees. Six are full doctors with seven presently pursuing their doctorates in China and abroad.

Undergraduates can study in seven areas:
Business Administration
Marketing
Information Management and Information Systems
Electronic business
Economics
Accounting
International Economy and Trade
The school has been approved to award Master degrees in the following three research areas:

Management Science and Engineering (a key discipline of Sichuan Province)
Technical Economy and Management
Industrial Economics
Three additional master degree programs are offered for field and senior engineers desiring to continue their education in the following:

Project Management
Industrial Engineering
Logistics Engineering
In conjunction with the School of Petroleum Engineering, a doctoral research program is offered to candidates in Petroleum Engineering Management in the area of petroleum and natural gas engineering.

Currently 300 graduate and 2,300 undergraduate students are enrolled. Over the past two decades, about 2,300 undergraduate and 300 graduate students have entered the petroleum and other related industries after completing their respective programs.

Adult education is also a part of the Economics and Management program providing training in the following:

Enterprise Management, Accounting Theory
International Commerce and Electronic business
The School has trained over a thousand in-service persons for the petroleum and related industries.

Since 1995, over two hundred research programs have been undertaken. Ten of these have been national projects and another thirty are provincial or ministerial level projects. More than six hundred papers have been published in multiple academic journals. Research by the Faculty is currently being pursued in Project Economic Evaluation, Enterprise Economic Analysis, Information System Construction and Theories of Enterprise Management.
